Hey there! It’s me…. Mallory!

I guess this is the first post where you all get to know me.  Let’s be honest though, if you are reading this first post you are most likely related to me or have a friendship obligation to check out my new blog.  So, if you fall into either of those categorizes then you really don’t need a get to know me segment cause…. well you already know me.  Guess you’ll just have to read it anyway!

Welcome to the 2020 shit show.  What a better time to sit back and try to decide what I want in life.  Halfway through my 33 years I still don’t have a single clue what I want to be when I grow up.  I have numerous hobbies and always looking for something new to try, between photography, home décor, cooking, traveling, writing, sports, anything outdoors, the list goes on and on forever.  I have been talking about starting a blog for a while now.  Somewhere to put my thoughts down, home in on some of my hobbies and see what may come of it.  So, sitting here as the 5th month of deployment comes to a close yearning to be back home sitting on my own couch with a glass of wine I thought well why the hell not now.

I have been active duty Navy for 12 years now.  My career is probably the biggest part of my life due to the commitment that it entails.  It has awarded me the chance to travel all over the world, meet some of the greatest people, and have experiences I could have never dreamed being from a small town in Kansas.  While the military is a huge part of my life it isn’t what I want the main focus of this  blog to be about because there is so much more to me than the uniform that I live in or the acronyms that I live my life by.

I have always been active, love to hike, paddle-board, play sports, work out, but recently I decided to take up running.  Some would say at times my personality screams that of a 60-year-old that needs a cup of warm milk before bed at 6pm, after a month of consistent running my body too feels this age.  I am still wondering when the moment will hit that I’m like damn this is so much fun I can’t wait to run again.  To the point that I even googled “when will running get easier”.  Just to save EVERYONE the trouble one of the answers was “it might not”.   So basically, thank you google you’re a real fucking gem.

Now that all the formalities are out of the way welcome to my blog and me just meandering through life!
